These are “unprecedented times,” to use one of the phrases you’ve no doubt heard dozens (hundreds?) of times over the past few weeks.
Tiresome clichés aside, more than ever, this is a time for clear communication.
“Communication is at the heart of the employee experience,” said Jason Etter, head of U.S. marketing and brand strategy for Staffbase during a recent webinar sponsored with IABC. Staffbase provides a digital communications app for reaching employees, so Jason is obviously a big fan of mobile apps.
With or without an app, Jason shared four strategies for communicating more effectively during quarantine/social distancing and other crises. I’ve summarized his advice in the March issue of my newsletter, Wordnerdery, including the need for a clear action plan on what people need to do now. If it’s stay home, say that, not “Practice social distancing.”
