You’re in a new city, perhaps for a conference or other business. Most of your time is mapped out, but you want to pick up a souvenir or gifts for family back home. Or maybe you forgot to pack the right shoes, or you spilled coffee on your lap. Where do you go?
Like me, you prefer a recommendation from someone you know over an ad-filled city guide. That was the thinking behind the Toronto shopping guide created for the IABC World Conference in 2010, with suggestions from IABC members. The conference returns to Toronto this year, June 8-11 at the Sheraton Centre, and I’m looking to update the guide.
Toronto is a big city, and there are many more stores than I can fit into this guide. What I’m looking for is your “go-to” place downtown for shoes, books, clothing (for men, women or children), accessories, souvenirs and so on, ideally within walking or transit distance of the Sheraton.
Can you help? Download the Toronto Shopping – 2010 guide to see what’s already listed, and please post your suggestions in the comments below. Thanks!
Update: Here’s the draft copy for the Toronto shopping guide-2014 so far. Is there anything here you agree or disagree with?

Sorry, I have no shopping tips. I just want to thank you for creating the original guide and managing the update. I think it’s a nice “value-add” for attendees to the IABC world conference.
Sue – wonderful idea; 2010 guide still has a great list.
Suggestion to consider http://blog.lavishandsqualor.com/ (253 Queen Street West, just west of University Avenue) – interesting mix of clothing, jewellery and more, plus local artists are featured, and you can also stop and relax upstairs with cup coffee/tea.
Thanks, ladies! Great suggestion, Wendy; I’ve added it to the list.
